Bowling With Your Family
There is nothing better than spending quality time with your family, and if you and the kids have been spending too much time in front of the TV, get out and go bowling. Not only is it a great way to get some exercise, but it is also an excellent time to bring everyone back together.
Even if you do not own your own bowling ball and shoes, you can still head to the bowling alley for an afternoon or evening of good old-fashioned fun. All you have to do is bring a pair of socks. Most alleys will rent you everything you need to start bowling spares and strikes. Back in the day, you had to know how to keep score, but now you can tally up your frames electronically without having to know a thing about bowling.
If you are on a tight budget, go bowling with your family. Most bowling alleys offer family discount nights. You can rent your equipment and bowl two or three games for one low price. Sometimes the bowling center will throw in drinks and snacks.
There really is no age limit for bowling. Even toddlers can roll the ball down the alley, as most centers have light weight balls. Bring your grandparents along and they can get in touch with their youth. Remember that bowling is something that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. Unlike softball or soccer, bowling is an individual sport, so even if you consider yourself a great bowler, you can still have a friendly game with your partner and kids. If your young son has never been bowling before, he can ask for bumpers on the sides of the lane which will avoid the gutter and keep him from getting frustrated. Unlike a movie theater, bowling centers are fun, lively and loud. The kids can cheer you on, and vice versa. Do not worry about a baby sitter. Even if your newborn starts to cry, the excitement of the other bowlers will drown her out. She is probably making a fuss because she is not old enough to bowl yet.
No need to wait for a sunny day to go bowling. Weather is never an issue. When it is cold and rainy, it is a welcome place to stay warm and dry, and during the summer, bowling is the perfect excuse to get out of the heat.
